DSI visits Phuket sea gypsy village, gives legal advice

PHUKET: Deputy Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) – Thailand’s equivalent of the FBI – Lt Col Prawut Wongsrinin along with justice fund lawyer Pasit Thavornlamlert and relevant officials met with the members of the sea gypsies community at a multipurpose yard on Rawai Beach yesterday (Aug 31) to follow up on several lawsuits filed against cea gypsy community members.

Bang Khu Underpass to be closed for works tomorrow

PHUKET: The Phuket Highways Department have announced that the new Bang Khu Underpass will be closed to all traffic from 9am until to midday tomorrow (Sept 2) while essential works are carried out.

Phuket Pol Commander declines to comment on reinstatement of officers allegedly involved in corruption

PHUKET: Phuket Provincial Police Commander Maj Gen Teeraphol Thipjaroen has today (Sept 1) declined to comment on whether three high-ranking police officers, who in May were transferred pending an investigation into allegations of corruption and malfeasance, have been cleared of the allegations made against them after The Phuket News learned that the three have since been reinstated to their original positions.
