Phuket Weather – When to Go and Why

**Phuket** — an island without winter but with plenty of character. There are no four seasons here, but two main ones: the **dry (high) season** and the **wet (green) season**. Yet Phuket is beautiful and welcoming year-round — it all depends on what kind of vacation you seek: beach lounging, active adventure, cultural immersion, or romantic seclusion.

Let’s break it down by month so you can plan the perfect trip — or relocation.

December

Peak season. Warm, crystal-clear sea, blue skies, gentle morning breezes, and a packed event calendar. The highlight: King’s Cup Regatta, the biggest sailing event in Southeast Asia. If you love sun, celebration, and comfort — this is your month.

January

Sunny and hot, but not exhausting. Holiday sales, New Year festivities, beach life. High demand for rentals — book early.

February

One of the best months: dry skies, calm seas, and soft sun. At the end of the month: Chinese New Year with fireworks, parades, and an unforgettable cultural vibe.

March

More humidity, but still little rain. Great for diving, island hopping, and sailing. Don’t miss the Phang Nga Bay Regatta.

April

Hot and festive. Mid-April brings Songkran, the Thai New Year — a nationwide water fight and a blast of fun.

May

Transitional. Early May continues the dry season, but short evening showers may begin later. Sea gets livelier — surfers rejoice.

June

Start of the green season. Sunny mornings, more moisture, lush landscapes. Fewer tourists. Ideal for retreats, photography, and peaceful getaways.

July

Tropical balance: sun in the morning, short rains in the afternoon. Regattas like Phuket Race Week and surf season begins.

August

Warm and humid. Never below 25°C, even at night. Quiet beaches, jungle walks, yoga escapes — a perfect time for nature lovers.

September

The wettest month — but also the most photogenic. Moody skies, big waves, fiery sunsets. Great for surfers, especially during international surf events in Kata.

October

Still rainy, but the air cools and the tourist season begins by month-end. Don’t miss the unique Vegetarian Festival — dramatic, colorful, and spiritual.

November

Official start of the dry season. Fresher air, calmer seas, and near-perfect comfort. Ideal for escaping the gray and greeting winter barefoot.
